The independent expert panel identified Effective Talent ID and Player Development as one of the six principles of high performance, with an emphasis on giving talented cricketers access to relevant, global experience, and a chance to develop the specific skills required to be successful in international cricket around the world. These would combine to create players who are better able to step into the international level, anywhere. Our domestic game is critical to developing our players, but it is not the only environment for development. Since 2000, England have been comparatively better at home than away. We therefore need to consider a complementary set of experiences outside the domestic game that will give our players the skills and experience to succeed away from home. The next four recommendations, relating to skill development, are as follows: 6. Challenge our bowlers to develop their global skills 7. Give players access to experiences overseas 8.
