IMPACT REPORT 2023

14 NOT TI NGHAM S H I R E COUNT Y CR I CK E T C LUB reach in our COMMUNITIES Our community programmes continue to engage individuals from ethnically diverse communities and socioeconomically deprived areas, as we strive to offer people with disabilities equal opportunities to enjoy our sport. Chance to Shine Street showcased the talent of young people within the city, with our under 12s side winning the 2023 National Street Finals.Three Street hubs were in operation all year round, with 235 young people attending their Street sessions for the first time. The Lord’s TavernersWicketz programme provided opportunities for young people from our most deprived areas of the city and county, with over 90 new participants attending sessions and workshops throughout the year. All 16 Special Educational Needs Schools across Nottinghamshire were engaged with the sport, either through our Table Cricket or Kwik Cricket offerings. Many of these have gone on to compete inTable Cricket county competitions, while over 50 young people attended our three Super 1s hubs. Meanwhile, work accelerated in earnest this year to reverse the generational decline in black participation in cricket, through the Afro-Caribbean Engagement Programme (ACE). We launched ACE in Nottingham last January, with our community hub based in St Ann’s – one of Nottingham’s most deprived neighbourhoods. From that hub, we provided opportunities for 2,000 young people to embrace their passion for the sport; 1,345 of those were from diverse backgrounds, and 731 of them were girls. Elsewhere, our newly-launched Core Cities Programme aims to identify key priority areas within the city and establish new partnerships with community organisations. Since this work began in July, three Core City Hubs have been identified in St Ann’s – withThe Renewal Trust, Haydn Road with Castle Cavendish and Minver Crescent with Aspley Partnership. In total, over 20 new relationships have been established with local community groups in these areas. FOR MORE ON OUR COMMUNI TY PROGRAMMES , CL ICK ON THE L INKS BELOW.
