IMPACT REPORT 2023
12 NOT TI NGHAM S H I R E COUNT Y CR I CK E T C LUB children & young people Our Chance to Shine programme in schools allows us to provide an exciting introductory cricket offer to children – and this year, we gave over 25,000 children from 80 primary schools a taste of the sport, a significant increase from 9,400 in 2022. Our countywide Dynamos Festivals allowed 1,280 Key Stage 1 and 2 children to enjoy their first taste of competitive cricket, with these festivals being delivered at local cricket clubs to help forge a transition into club cricket. Our ESCA (English Schools Cricket Association) secondary hardball competitions have seen significant growth this year, with over 500 young people from 45 schools taking part in U11, U12, U13, U14 and U15 hardball competitions. Local recreational clubs, meanwhile, have given another 1,652 five to 11-year-olds the opportunity to experience cricket in the summer through All Stars and Dynamos programmes. Bursaries provided to 11 clubs and community groups have enabled 624 young people from socio-economically deprived areas to access cricket – many of these for the very first time. These bursaries have also led to the creation of four new junior sections. And we’ve ensured that cricket is available all year round, from our U9s Summer Kwik League, which engaged 520 children, to ourWinter Indoor League. The latter gave over 280 players from 17 clubs and 35 teams the opportunity to compete during the colder months, across 197 fixtures.
