NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB 2023 ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 38 F INANCIAL REPORT O F T H E G E N E R A L COMM I T T E E The General Committee presents its report and the audited financial statements for the year ended 30 September 2023. GENERAL COMMITTEE’S RESPONSIBILITIES STATEMENT The General Committee is responsible for preparing the General Committee’s report and the audited financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Law applicable to Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies in the UK requires the General Committee to prepare the financial statements for each financial year. Under that law, the General Committee has elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 ‘The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland’. In preparing these audited financial statements, the General Committee is required to: – select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; – make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and – prepare the audited financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the club will continue in business. The General Committee is responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the club and to enable it to ensure that the audited financial statements comply with the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.The General Committee is also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the club and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY The principal activities of the society are those of a First-Class County Cricket Club and responsibility for recreational cricket in Nottinghamshire. RESULT The income and expenditure account is set out on page 41 and shows the deficit for the year.
