2023 ANNUAL REPORT
17 COMMUNITY REPORT Among the first attendees of the Weight Management Project was Kelli, who – thanks to the support of Trust staff working on the programme – rediscovered her love for an active lifestyle and took a keen interest in badminton and boxercise. Kelli has so far lost 10.5 lbs on her journey and has since transitioned to a longer-term weight loss programme. A proud accomplishment of the Trust has been securing the future of Forget Me Notts for another two years. The #Donate4Dementia campaign was launched in March 2023 to safeguard the array of stimulating activities and events offered by the programme for individuals living with dementia, as its previous funding cycle came to a close. The fundraising finale was the Zipwire Challenge in July, where over 90 brave souls took on the 40-mile-per-hour thrill-ride above the iconic Trent Bridge turf, raising £31,504 in the process. We have been tremendously thankful for the many generous donations we have received over the course of the year, and we were delighted to reach a stunning 1,000 individual donations by late November. In particular, heartfelt thanks go to Barry Haworth (£2,520) and the EastwoodTown Cricket Club Women’s Section (£2,250), who raised the largest individual and team sums amongst so many generous donors. The Trust has also continued to offer vital guidance and support to local schoolchildren, with 494 young people engaged through our Positive Futures, Healthy Hearts or Virtual Schools projects, offering guidance on career pathways, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and providing vital face-to-face mentorship and life skills opportunities. The Rushcliffe and Nottingham City Positive Futures programmes have supported 100 young people, including the training of nine peer mentors and 26 young volunteers. Those individuals have supported various community projects, including Cotgrave Christmas Grotto, Himmah Foodbank, Cotgrave Community Garden and Tithby Road Bridge Graffiti project. Our Virtual Schools Programme has engaged 19 young people with more complex behavioural needs, helping them to improve their academic attainment, attitude to learning, health, wellbeing and resilience. Our Holiday Activities and Food “THE DONATE4DEMENTIA CAMPAIGN WAS LAUNCHED IN MARCH 2023 TO SAFEGUARD THE ARRAY OF STIMULATING ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS OFFERED BY THE PROGRAMME FOR NOTTINGHAMSHIRE RESIDENTS LIVING WITH DEMENTIA.” Mandy Wright
