2023 ANNUAL REPORT

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB 2023 ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 14 Among many highlights, we saw success in new and existing programmes working to engage with individuals from ethnically diverse communities and socio- economically deprived areas, supported significant growth for women and girls, and strived to offer people with disabilities equal opportunity to enjoy our sport. The Trent Bridge Community Trust has, as ever, continued its mission to improve the lives of individuals in our local communities, supporting young people with life skills, mentorship and careers advice, educating children on healthy life-long habits, and helping adults across our health & wellbeing programmes. Behind the scenes at Trent Bridge, staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to steward and celebrate the long and rich heritage of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Major projects have helped to preserve our comprehensive collection of historical items, providing unique experiences with Trent Bridge tours, and welcoming visitors to the PeterWynne-Thomas Library. As the individual stories awaiting in the forthcoming pages will show, it remains as evident as ever that cricket possesses the power to impact lives far beyond the gates of Trent Bridge. Many of us will remember where our love for cricket began. For the majority of professionals and amateurs alike, it will have been at a tender young age when playing was all about enjoyment, which is why Chance to Shine is so vital to countywide engagement. Over the course of 2023, 25,262 young people across 80 schools took part in the programme, many of whom went on to enjoy their first taste of competitive cricket through our festivals and competitions. Last year we told the story of Chase Starbuck, a Chance to Shine Street participant who discovered his love for cricket through the programme and formed a heart-warming bond with Notts Outlaws andTrent Rockets star Colin Munro at the Street Regional Finals. This year, Chase has gone one step further and led the Street U12s In a year when equity in cricket has continued to be at the forefront of the national conversation, our community teams have continued to actively champion equity, diversity and inclusion of access to the game and venue we love.
