2022 ANNUAL REPORT

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 9 theVitality Blast with six defeats from 14 games. They finished fifth in the table, just losing out on a quarter-final place, on net run rate, toYorkshire. Following the approach that the club adopted in 2021, the Royal London Cup was seen as a great opportunity to give some of our wider squad players an opportunity to get much- needed experience in the first team. Under Haseeb Hameed’s leadership as captain, the side had an excellent run in the competition, eventually losing in a very close quarter-final away to Lancashire. Once again, we were delighted that our contract with the ECB meant that the Royal London Cup Final was staged at Trent Bridge with Lancashire and Kent contesting an excellent match. The knowledge of who the finalists would be some two weeks in advance, and the staging of the match on a Saturday, meant that over ten thousand watched a thrilling game in which Kent emerged as winners. It was very pleasing to see our former player Joey Evison taking the honours as Player of the Match. Having been successfully launched by the ECB the previous summer, 2022 sawThe Hundred continue to draw almost capacity crowds to theTrent Rockets’ four home fixtures at Trent Bridge. The new format is particularly popular with families and the number of children attending matches and enjoying exciting, dynamic cricket was remarkable. As well as being a commercial success,The Hundred is definitely succeeding in attracting a new audience demographic of young people who will hopefully be the red-ball fans of the future. TheTrent Rockets are not governed/ managed by Nottinghamshire CCC. The Rockets are a regional team with a Board, chaired by the Notts CEO, comprising the counties of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.Trent Bridge is their home ground. As for on the field of play, the Trent Rockets were overall winners “2022 SAW THE HUNDRED CONTINUE TO DRAW ALMOST CAPACITY CROWDS TO THE TRENT ROCKETS’ FOUR HOME FIXTURES AT TRENT BRIDGE. AS WELL AS BEING A COMMERCIAL SUCCESS, THE HUNDRED IS DEFINITELY SUCCEEDING IN ATTRACTING A NEW AUDIENCE DEMOGRAPHIC OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WILL HOPEFULLY BE THE RED-BALL FANS OF THE FUTURE.” Jeffrey Moore
