2022 ANNUAL REPORT

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB 2022 ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 22 his game, and to get back to his best, shows how driven he is to make the most of his talent, and he has all the support he needs to do that here. His top-order team mate Ben Duckett had a stand-out season across formats, displaying his credentials in First- Class cricket in particular with his best season in a Notts shirt. Having impressed in 2021, he doubled down on his ambition to contribute heavily having made good starts. This was reflected in his innings of 241 against Derbyshire. Five fifties and three hundreds in what, for him, was a ten-match season is laudable form, and he deserves the opportunities that have come his way on the international stage as a result. Our Academy graduates have continued to prosper in the senior sides, too. Lyndon James and Liam Patterson-White followed their breakthrough campaigns in 2021 with match-winning performances a year on and have each signed long- term contracts with the club. Lyndon showed maturity beyond his years and looked unflustered at the crease as he brought up his maiden First-Class tons. His ceiling is very high, and whilst he was disappointed that an injury prevented him from contributing more with the ball, his batting excelled to such a point that he was comfortably worth his place for that area of his game alone. Liam, meanwhile, proved he has the ability both to be aggressive and play the holding role with his spin. He finished as the leading English spinner in the County Championship last summer with 41 wickets, and deserved his England Lions call up. Elsewhere in the bowling depart- ment, Dane Paterson again showed his value, producing performances which ultimately won us games whilst remaining an immensely popular figure in the dressing room. In total, he took 75 all-format wickets in 2022, securing his 56 County Championship scalps at an average “HASEEB HAMEED SHOWED TRUE RESILIENCE AND APPETITE FOR THE GAME HAVING RETURNED FROM A DIFFICULT WINTER IN AUSTRALIA. THAT HE RETURNED WITH A STRONG DESIRE TO WORK ON HIS GAME, AND TO GET BACK TO HIS BEST, SHOWS HOW DRIVEN HE IS TO MAKE THE MOST OF HIS TALENT, AND HE HAS ALL THE SUPPORT HE NEEDS TO DO THAT HERE.” Mick Newell
