15 COMMUNITY REPORT Those involved in our recreational cricket initiatives have tirelessly worked to ensure the game is seen as a sport for all, with landmark moments in our programmes for women & girls, those with disabilities and individuals fromAfro-Caribbean backgrounds. Our official charity, the Trent Bridge Community Trust, has expanded its work into new areas of the city and county, and has placed a fresh focus on supporting the mental wellbeing of those who receive its help. Tales and memorabilia from our county’s illustrious past are now more accessible than ever before thanks to the tireless work of our heritage staff and volunteers. And the stories of those individuals inspired, empowered and informed by the above teams showcase the power of sport in its most vital form. Aided and abetted by an increased profile in the national conversation, opportunities for females in cricket continue to grow. Over the past year, 24 new teams have been set up for women or girls in Nottingham- shire, 13 new sections have been established at existing clubs and 552 girls have been introduced to the sport through the All Stars and Dynamos initiatives for children. The number of women involved in off-field roles is snowballing too, with 108 new South Asian female activators trained in the past 12 months (up from 50 in 2021) and 61 new female coaches and officials trained.
