MATTERS ARISING There were no matters arising. 4. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT MrTennant said he didn’t remember any year – during his two decades on the General Committee – that had been quite so busy, varied and challenging in all aspects of the game as 2019. Both on and off the field, it had been a year that demanded much of the executive, the committee and everyone involved in the running of the club. All who love the club were, of course, bitterly disappointed with the team’s red-ball cricket during the previous season. It was the committee’s duty to con- sider what measures to put in place to ensure both a vastly improved performance next season and sus- tained success into the future. The club’s Head Coach and Director of Cricket had presented their views as to what needed to be done and – after due deliberation, and some considered changes – the incumbent playing and coaching staff had the committee’s full backing as they aimed to turn things around during the forthcoming season. Mr Tennant did not doubt that the club had some very talented cricketers and stated that white-ball performances were testament to that view. And whilst red-ball cricket is the pinnacle of the game, the fact that – over the last ten years – the team had been the most successful white- ball side in the country, should not be ignored. Part of the planning for the 2020 season had seen a number of new players and a new coach in Kevin Shine arriving at Trent Bridge. Those changes were a sign of the club building for the future, which was about more than just one season. The aim was to be in the top division of the County Championship as consistently as possible and to challenge for honours in all forms of the game. Mr Tennant hoped everyone asso- ciated with the club would now get
