Persistent drizzle prevented a ball being bowled at Headingley, where Notts Outlaws’ NatWest T20 Blast match against Yorkshire Vikings was abandoned on Friday evening.

The players were going through their warm-ups when the first downpour drove them from the field, around an hour before the scheduled 7pm start.

Conditions failed to improve over the subsequent two hours, leaving umpires Nigel Cowley and Graham Lloyd with little option but to call a halt to proceedings.

Both sides take a point apiece from the washout but it doesn’t enhance the qualifying prospects of either.

Notts Outlaws are back in action on Saturday afternoon (18 June 2016), when they face Worcestershire Rapids at New Road in a televised contest (2.30pm start).
