Nottinghamshire Academy wicketkeeper Tom Moores has joined Lancashire on loan.

With Alex Davies currently receiving treatment on a knee injury and Jos Buttler on international duty with England, the Red Rose county have moved to sign Moores as cover.

Mick Newell sees benefit in the 19-year-old experiencing first team action at Emirates Old Trafford.

“It’s a great opportunity for Tom to go and play some first team cricket, and to do so under the spotlight of pressure games with a big county,” said the Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket.

“Lancashire being aware of him and wanting to sign him is testament to Tom’s reputation as a talented young keeper/batsman.

“We wish him well and will look forward to him coming back a better player for the experience.”

Moores is set to make his debut for the Lightning in Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Worcestershire Rapids at Emirates Old Trafford.

“Tom is highly regarded and is an exciting young talent,” added Lancashire’s Cricket Director Ashley Giles.

“He has a good pedigree and we are looking forward to him joining up with the squad.”
