Andy Pick, Nottinghamshire’s new bowling coach, brings with him a wealth of coaching experience as well as an extensive playing career.

In a first-class career spanning 14 years, Pick took 454 wickets for Nottinghamshire, at an average of 34.44.

Born in the city, Pick forced his way into Nottinghamshire’s first team in 1984 after an inauspicious 1983 season. He remained a regular there until 1995.

In 1990, he recorded his career-best figures, 7-128 against local rivals Leicestershire. The following year he claimed 67 wickets for Nottinghamshire.

Since his retirement from the professional game in 1997, Pick has travelled the world to gain coaching experience.

His coaching began with the England Under 19s in 2003, who he guided to both the 2004 and 20006 U19 World Cups, before taking the reins in Canada ahead of the 2007 World Cup.

He then returned to England to coach the Under 19s, during which time he worked closely with players including Stuart Broad and Alastair Cook.

After working with the ICC, he signed up to lead the USA, before leaving his post in October 2013.

Pick returns to Nottinghamshire having worked as a bowling coach on a consultancy basis on two occasions as the county finalise their preparations for the 2014 season.
