Notts Outlaws will face Essex Eagles at Trent Bridge at 7.10pm on Thursday 8 August in the quarter-finals of the Friends Life t20.

The clash will be the first between the two sides in twenty20 cricket with Essex qualifying as one of the two best third-placed sides.

Elsewhere, Surrey will host Somerset, Northants Steelbacks will face Durham Dynamos and Hampshire will take on Lancashire.

The Outlaws' group stage record represents the second best record of the qualifiers with Hampshire boasting the best return with eight wins from ten matches.

"We were always focussed on securing a home quarter-final and never had any preference as to who we would rather play or avoid in the quarter-final," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

"Essex are more of an unknown quantity given that we don't face them as regularly as some of the other quarter-finalists. We'll look back at their group stage performances but the focus is on doing ourselves justice and backing the method that has worked for us at Trent Bridge."
