England’s defence of The Ashes will commence at Trent Bridge following the announcement that the Nottinghamshire venue will host the first Investec Ashes Test Match of next summer from Wednesday 10 July.

Trent Bridge will be the only venue outside of London to host Investec Ashes Test Matches in both 2013 and 2015 having won the right to stage a prestigious package of major matches that runs to 2016.

“Ashes Test Matches are the most prestigious fixtures in the calendar and knowing that Nottinghamshire will be in the spotlight when England and Australia meet for the first match of the 2013 series is a source of immense pride,” said Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive Lisa Pursehouse.

“There is a fantastic tradition of Ashes Tests being played at Trent Bridge that dates back to 1899 and preserving that was at the forefront of our minds when we were bidding to secure these matches.

“We have a lot of work to do to put on a great show for the players, cricket supporters and a global television audience of millions and that is exactly what we intend to do.

“We are poised to deal with unprecedented demand for tickets but we are yet to announce our on-sale dates and I would ask England supporters to join our mailing list so that we can communicate ticket information as soon as it is confirmed.

“I have a lot of positive memories from the 2005 Trent Bridge Ashes Test and I will be very proud when another chapter is written in 2013.”

Nottinghamshire members will be given priority access to tickets before general sale begins whilst those seeking hospitality have been asked to register their interest via Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s official website.
