Adam Voges starred with the bat as Notts Outlaws defended 281-6 to beat Glamorgan in the Clydesdale Bank 40.

Voges’ 103 came from 76 balls after an 85-run opening partnership betweem Alex Hales and Riki Wessels. Hales was run out for 56 with Wessels making 37 before finding Dean Cosker at long-on.

The Outlaws began and finished with a flurry having scored 82 in the first ten overs and 100 in the final ten.

Scott Elstone’s 31 included successive sixes whilst Samit Patel backed up 39 runs with bowling figures of 4-37.

Glamorgan made 260-8 in reply, underpinned by a run-a-ball 90 from opener Gareth Rees.

Rees shared 70 with Wagg for the first wicket but the hosts lost four wickets in four overs after their solid start as Notts maintained control of the contest to win by 21 runs.

Notts are now second in Group C but will face difficulties in qualifying given the lead Somerset have established and the main challengers for the best runners up spot competing in different groups.
