Second XI Friendly
Nottinghamshire (458) beat Northamptonshire (240 & 153) by an innings & 65 runs

At tea on the second day with Northants on 102-2 wanting a further 116 to avoid an innings defeat with Niall O'Brien not out 58 and batting fluently, the last thing anyone expected was for the match to be all over 90 minutes later.

Step in Jake Ball who in his first five overs after tea took 5-9 including O'Brien for 60 to reduce the visitors to 120-7 & claimed a 6th wicket in his last over for a spell of 6-31 from eleven overs to finish with 6-56.

Ball was a determined figure having conceded 25 runs from his three-over spell prior to tea.

He was helped by some superb leg side catching by wicket keeper Paul Dixey who had earlier impressed whilst scoring 88 in a stand of 189 for the seventh wicket with Richard Stroh who scored 84.

This stand took the match away from Northamptonshire and ultimately led to their demise.

Niall O'Brien, the Ireland wicketkeeper, made his comeback after injury in the match and played well during the opening morning contributing 82 runs to a first session total of 159-6.

Richard Stroh (4-66) and Graeme White (2-42)  bowled well to dismiss the visitors for 240 before Notts built a winning total with half-centuries from Patel (51), Shafayat (65), Dixie (88) and Stroh (84).
