Second Eleven Trophy
Leics 283 / Notts 285-5
Notts (2pts) won by 5 wickets

Akhil Patel, Scott Elstone and Charlie Shreck were the architects of this five wicket win over Leicestershire at Grace Road.

At 231-4 in the 40th over thanks to 79 from Jones and 72 from Boyce, the home side were in the driving seat but they only managed a further 52 runs for six wickets from the final ten overs of the innings, as Charlie Shreck took 4-17 in 22 balls to end their hopes of victory.

Leicester lost four wickets in the final four overs to end with 283.Luke Fletcher taking two in his final two overs to finish with 2-55 from 10 overs.

Akhil Patel then set about the batting on what was a placid pitch. As though freed from the responsibility of his best man duties at his brothers wedding on Sunday, he reached his 50 from just 54 balls despite losing Bilal Shafayat and Matthew Wood early on.

Mark Nelson (24) helped him in a stand of 55 for the third wicket but then the partnership that took Notts to the brink of victory prospered.

Patel AND Scott Elstone added 106 in just 15 overs as they attacked at every opportunity. Patel had just reached his century from 94 balls including 14 boundaries when he drove Thakor to long on to be caught on the boundary for 105.

Graeme White joined Elstone and they added useful runs, this time taking Notts to within eight runs of their target before Elstone who surely deserved a century, mishit Thakor to Masters at wide mid-off for 91 from 92 balls including three well hit sixes and ten fours.

White was undefeated on 27 when the win came as an anti-climax from five wides bowled by Gurney as Notts won by five wickets with nine balls remaining.
