The South African Test star netted at Trent Bridge this morning having arrived to deputise for David Hussey who will replace Amla after the ICC World Twenty20.

“The guys have been very accommodating and very warm and I have settled nicely,” said Amla, who arrived in Nottingham on Wednesday.

“I’m here for four championship games and I feel that I can make a contribution. I want to be part of a winning team and bring some of my international experience to the middle.

“I’m looking forward to this game to get to know my new team mates and gel with the team.”

Director of Cricket Mick Newell has selected Bilal Shafayat and Neil Edwards to open the batting against Durham UCCE.

Mark Wagh will bat at three with Ryan Sidebottom named amongst a four-pronged seam attack alongside Luke Fletcher, Paul Franks and Darren Pattinson.

“Andre Adams will come into it for one of the seam bowlers but other than that, this is the team that I expect to field against Kent next week,” said Newell, who has left out Matt Wood and Alex Hales and is unable to call on Charlie Shreck who is short of match fitness after injury.

“I’ve picked the side based on a combination of plans that I made during the winter and the form that players have shown in pre-season and the timing of this game means that it’s important for players to find some form and carry it into next week’s game.”
