Notts Academy made sure of the Bassetlaw Championship title with a resounding win over Glapwell at the Notts Sports Club on Monday.

The side will now compete in the Notts Premier League next season after out-performing the rest of the Bassetlaw sides at the first time of asking.

Winning the toss and batting first, Akhil Patel and Sam Kelsall put on 200 for the first wicket before Patel was out for 117. His innings contained 3 sixes and 15 fours off 115 balls.

Kelsall was out in the 37th over but Patel's innings was over shadowed by an exhilarating 95 from Ben McGuire. He reached his 50 from 22 balls and was out for 95 from 40 balls having hammered the visiting attack with 11 fours and 5 sixes. He scored his runs in a 135-run partnership with Sam Wood in ten overs.

Wood was made to appear slow in comparison but he scored 38 off just 24 balls with three sixes.

Adam Tilcock (14) and Adam Shepherd (15) took the score to 377-4 from the allocated 50 overs.

Shell shocked Glapwell really had no answer as they were bowled out for 112. Adam Shepherd took 2-25, Dominic Harvey 2-17, Akhil Patel 2-4 and Bobby Gamble 2-3 along with a wicket apiece from Ben McGuire and Will Jones to ensure a massive 265 run victory to seal the title with two games remaining.
