Samit Patel scored 50 as the Notts 2nd XI registered 187-8 before rain stopped play.
Rob Ferley scored 29 in a strong line-up that also included Will Jefferson, Matt Wood and Bilal Shafayat but the match was abandoned after lunch with Notts and Middlesex awarded a point each.
