Australian batsman David Hussey will not feature for Notts this season after being instructed to rest by Cricket Australia following a summer of IPL and international commitments.

Hussey was expected to play a part towards the end of the season but compatriot Adam Voges will continue to deputise in his absence.

“David’s situation has changed somewhat in that he is now centrally contracted by Australia so he won’t play for us at all this season,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“I have spoken to him personally and he would have liked to have spent some time with us but it isn’t going to be possible in the circumstances.

“He’s contracted to us for next season as well and we’re hopeful that we’ll see him at some stage but Adam has proved to be an excellent acquisition and we’re pleased that he’ll have the chance to spend more time at Trent Bridge.”

Hussey played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League before joining Australia on their tour of the West Indies.

Voges will also return to Australia to fulfil international commitments after the conclusion of Nottinghamshire's LV County Championship game against Durham on August 15.

Newell will sign a replacement overseas player for the last six weeks of the season.
