Andre Adams will replace Stuart Broad in the Nottinghamshire team to face Somerset at Taunton in the LV County Championship.

Adams took a wicket in last week’s draw with Durham before he was replaced by Broad who punctuated his return to county cricket with match figures of 7-86.

Samit Patel and Darren Pattinson are included in an otherwise unchanged side with Matt Wood and Bilal Shafayat set to open the batting.

“It could be Samit’s final Championship game of the season for us and it’s an important game for him to continue his run of form and catch the eye,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“Somerset have a quality opening pair in Marcus Trescothick and Justin Langer and it is important that we achieve a big score in our first innings. Bilal Shafayat is feeling good after his hundred last week and we’d like to see a century from one of the batsmen in this game.

“The top six face each other in this round of fixtures so it’s as much about stopping the opposition earning points as it as about winning them yourself.

“They tend to produce good wickets at Taunton and bowling can be hard work but we’ll be looking for our batsmen to pick up good scores and for our bowlers to stick at it.”
