Nottinghamshire’s Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom and Graeme Swann have all been picked for the forthcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka next month.

The trio all starred in England’s historic One-day series win in Sri Lanka earlier this month, with Sidebottom named as Man of the Series.

The 15-man squad have two warm-up games before a three-Test series begins in December.

And Swann believes his performances with the ball in the One-day series have proved he can perform at Test level.

He said: “I think I showed that spin bowlers can be a major factor over there and I would like to think I will get the chance to bowl in tandem with Monty Panesar during the series.

“It goes without saying that I enjoyed my return to England colours and everyone welcomed me into the dressing room.

“Stuart, Ryan and myself all had a good tour and it’s nice for us to be able to fly the Nottinghamshire flag as a group.”

England Chairman of Selectors David Graveney said: “We have chosen a balanced squad which includes a number of experienced Test players together with several young players who performed well in the recent One-Day Series in Sri Lanka.

“Graeme Swann made an excellent all-round contribution to the One-day squad’s series win in Sri Lanka and he will come into consideration for a place in our starting line-up at those venues where we require two spinners.”
