Adam Voges

Adam Voges

Adam Voges returns to Trent Bridge in 2012 for his fifth stint as the county’s overseas player. The Western Australian ensured his place in the hearts of all Nottinghamshire supporters with his magnificent century at Old Trafford which helped the side to the points they needed to lift the title two years ago.

Despite possessing an average of more than 43 from his 15 One Day Internationals Adam has been ignored by the Australian selectors for the past eighteen months, a situation that has benefitted Notts, who have been able to rotate him and David Hussey as their overseas player in recent times.

Perhaps even more surprisingly, he wasn’t picked up by an IPL team, despite having successful seasons for both Notts – in 2011, for whom he skippered the side in the second half of the competition – and Melbourne Stars, for whom he played in the Big Bash.

Tuning up nicely for his return to Nottingham, the right-hander made 178 for Western Australia against New South Wales, at Perth in February – only 2 runs lower than his career-best score, in a partnership of 379 with Liam Davis, who made 303 not out.
